The N.C.B.A. has 64 member clubs within Northumberland. Each club provides a venue for the sport of carpet bowling, where members meet on a regular basis for club nights, friendly matches, league games and local competitions.
The age of carpet bowlers ranges from nine to ninety and the game is accessible to able bodied and disabled players.

The Northumberland County Team play matches within the Northern Counties League, culminating in the National Inter-County Championships held each November.
National events are also held by the English Carpet Bowls Association including a County Champion of Champions match in June and a Carpet Bowls Festival at Potters in May.
