Interested in learning to ring?

Although we have a large band of ringers, we are always keen to teach more people. I would suggest that 11 years old is an approximate lower age limit, and there is no upper age limit. Ringing is good exercise, but it is not particularly strenuous. If you think you might be interested in learning to ring, then get in touch with me and I will arrange to meet you at a practice to give you an introduction to ringing. After this 1:1 lessons can be arranged until you are ready to join Thursday practices. It can take about 6 months to learn to ring a bell under reasonable control, but one can go on learning change ringing for many years after that. I have been ringing 32 years and I still have a lot to learn! The trophy shown above has been won by a Hexham Abbey band on several occasions for excellent ringing on 6 bells. The last time we won the trophy our band included someone who was 12 years old who had only been ringing 18 months! Some people progress quickly. Anyone interested in learning please contact me at phone me on 07776395214 or visit Clive Moon, Deputy Tower Captain
