Morpeth Lions Club

We are a service organisation. We raise money for local, national and international charities. We provide practical help where requested.

We organise fund raising events to facilitate fund raising for other charities where they may be too small to arrange their own e.g. raffles.

We provide a Christmas party with entertainment for the local elderly and disabled. We fund and distribute food parcels and presents to the elderly and to disadvantaged families. We provide holidays for same.

ALL funds raised for charity go to charity, we pay our own administration expenses.

- "Dickens of a Draw" 2008: Fund raising raffle available to local Charities for their own fund raising. Charities and other organisations retain all the money they raise from ticket sales - the Lions fund the raffle and the pizes and do all the admin.

• Sunday, November 23, 2008 - Meet the Lions: An afternoon of Entertainment with prize Bingo for Elderly or disabled folk. Transport provided from Morpeth - see local posters for details.

• Monday, December 15, 2008 - "Tin in a Bin" 2008: The Lions will be inviting customers of Morrisons to contribute cash towards their Christmas Charity events. They will purchase food items from Morrisons and distribute these to the elderly and needy throughout the Borough. They will also purchase, wrap and deliver presents for children in care or within families experiencing difficult times. In 2007 they distributed 240 food parcels with a value of about £11 each parcel; they provided presents for 66 children in 23 families. The collection will take place each day Monday to Saturday week commencing the 15th December. They used to ask customers to contribute tins of food - hence the event name.
