Town Twinning at Hexham is organized on behalf of the Hexham Town Council by a small committee of volunteers elected at an Annual General Meeting. This committee organizes social events including fund-raising activities, and arranges visits between Hexham and the twin towns. This involves arranging the hospitality for the guests, which is provided in the homes of members and supporters, as well as visits to places of interest in the locality and an event such as a dinner or ceilidh attended by guests and their hosts. Visiting parties are welcomed by the Mayor of Hexham at a reception held for this purpose.
The subscription to the Association is currently (2006 - 2007) £10.00 per head, and £20.00 for a family including children in full-time education and living at home. A junior subscription of £1.00 is payable by young persons below 18 or in full-time education. Subscriptions should be made by crossed cheque payable to Hexham Town Twinning Association, and may be sent to the Hon. Secretary.
