PEEP / Baby PEEP

PEEP sessions are for children aged 0-4 years and costs £1.50 per session.  Parents and children playing and learning together.  Baby PEEP sessions are for children under 1 and costs £1.00 per session.  Come and join in the fun – messy play, musical instruments, songs, rhymes, books and toys.  Contact Lisa or Julie on 511581 for more information on PEEP sessions, or Stacey on 505376 or Lynn on 822714 for more information on Baby PEEP sessions.

 Young Parent’s Group

For parents aged 21 and under and children up to 5 years old.  Fun activities with the children and opportunities to learn new things.  Crèche will be provided for courses such as First Aid.  No need to book just come along – a chance for children and parents to meet people and socialise.  For more information contact Claire C on 822714 or Stacey on 505376.  Claire and Stacey can visit before the sessions to introduce themselves.

 

Information, Advice and Guidance Sessions

Come along to one of our IAG sessions where our Information Advisors can give you advice and information on Benefits / Tax Credits; Grants; Employment & Training and Childcare.  For further information , please call Steph on 511581 or Leanne on 505376.

 BiBs Breastfeeding Support Group

Are you thinking about breastfeeding when baby arrives?  Are you already breastfeeding and would like to meet other breastfeeding mums?  Come along to our breastfeeding drop-in and have a chat over free refreshments.  You’ll receive a free gift on your first visit and Peer Supporters are on hand if you have any questions.  We look forward to meeting you.  For more information, please call Julia Masters on 07824 597481.

4 Dad’s

All dads are welcome to come along and have fun with your children and take part in activities, crafts and songs.  Regular trips are held.  For more information, contact Julie or Sally on 511581.

Story Telling

Story & Songtime

Sure Start are working with Northumberland Toy Library to deliver Story & Songtime.  Story, arts & crafts, songs & musical instruments.  Lots more activities, such as seed planting, arts & crafts and playdough – continuing throughout the school holidays.  For more information, contact Andrea on 822714.

Baby Save a Life

An exciting new course which will be held every 2 months at one of our Children’s Centres.  This is an imperative course for anyone with small children or for those of you who take care of small children.  £2.50 per session – no crèche available.  For further information, contact Stacey on 505376.

Creative Crafts

Healthy Lifestyles

Fancy something tasty to eat?  Get fit and keep healthy – lots of handy hints and tips.  For further information, contact Julie or Lisa on 511581.

Tasty Treats

Tasty Treats is a new and exciting weaning course designed to help your baby take their first foods.  Through this course you will learn to allow your child to explore their food, encourage their independence and find some handy new recipes to try out in the home.  For further information, contact Lisa on 822714. 

Whoops!

Whoops! presentations offer parents the opportunity to learn about risks and hazards within everyday life and how to reduce these risks within the home.  Whoops! offer 2 presentations – Burns & Scalds and Choking & Toy Safety.  For more information, contact Julie or Lisa on 511581.

 Family Learning

As well as the weekly PEEP sessions, we will be holding various Family Learning Courses, such as Language & Play, at regular intervals at Morpeth, Pegswood and Choppington Centres.  Our courses held so far have been very popular, so booking is recommended.  If you would like to express your interest in attending any future courses, please contact Andrea Lawson on 01670 822714.  We also run various Adult Learning Courses, such as First Aid, Food Hygiene and can also give information and support on any learning or training opportunities you may require.

Baby Massage

Sure Start offers all parents and carers an opportunity to learn the skill of Baby Massage in a relaxed and friendly environment.  The 4 week course provides an opportunity to spend quality time bonding with your baby and meeting other parents.  Baby Massage has many benefits including relief from colic and constipation.  It can also help to settle restless babies and is a lovely addition to any bedtime routine.  For further information contact Stacey on 822714.

Sure Start Speech & Language Worker

Your Sure Start Speech & Language Workers can provide practical ideas and activities to support your child’s speech & language development at home.  They are also involved in running groups and activities at the Children’s Centres.

As well as all the services and activities that Sure Start deliver at your local Children’s Centre, there are other activities that are delivered either in the Children’s Centre or local community.

Stay and Play Story Sessions

Pegswood Toddler Group at Pegswood Church Hall, held fortnightly.  Come along to this fun session run by Northumberland Toy Library, where there will also be an opportunity to loan toys.  Call 523539 for more information.  This group is supported by Greggs Trust & The Big Lottery Fund)

Baby Clinic

The Baby Drop-In Clinic is held at Morpeth Children’s Centre.  For further information contact Gas House Lane Surgery on 500132.

Stobhill Potterers Toddler Group

A community run group catering for all ages from birth upwards.  The group is held in Stobhill Youth Club.  For further information, contact Steph on 511581.

Munchkins

A parent led baby and toddler group catering for children aged 6 months to 3 years, where parents and children can play together.  Activities include toy time, arts & crafts, charity work, messy & sensory play and event parties.  For further information, contact Theresa on 07917 897935.
