A Breathing Places Lottery Grant has enabled us to install attractive new signs at the entrance to Old Bakehouse Yard and a new water trough to replace the old "ammonite". We have renovated the solar-powered pump which supplies water to the trough so birds and insects should not go without a drink this summer!
We have created a wild flower area at the far end of the garden which looks really colourful from early summer. It can be viewed through a living willow arch created by Val Stevens, our Chairwomen.
Another much-appreciated grant from the Breathing Places Fund has allowed us to buy tree and shrub labels which you will find throughout the garden to help you identify the plants. We have also installed two information boards that explain more about how we are attracting wildlife to the Green.
You will see we have done a lot of coppicing and pruning over the winter to help flowering plants to flourish and we have planted more shade-loving plants. Hope you enjoy the improvements!
