We are a mixed club and the weekend friendly matches are normally played on a mixed match basis. The mixed triples competition matches are normally played on the last Sunday in June, July and August and commence at 10.a.m.. Very friendly, just put your name down on the list in the club house, everyone welcome to participate, bring your own lunch.
At weekends we have some mixed friendly matches both at home at Alnwick and on other outdoor Bowls Clubs.
Weekday afternoons and evenings, the green is usually open to members for roll up`s or for members participating in Club, County or National competitions and or Friendly matches against other Bowling Clubs
Monday Evening is Jumbles Evening. Names are drawn from the hat. Just turn up on the night. This is open to Men and Women of all ages including boys and girls. This event is run by the Men and the start time is 6.30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon is also Jumbles and is organised by the Ladies on the same basis as Monday Evening and the start time is 2.30.p.m.
A new event the Friday afternoon triples has been very succesful. Please make yourself know to John Levy or any other member of the Committee if you would like to play and we will be pleased to include you. This is run on the basis, that you are drawn to play in a triple and you play three sesioins of six ends. At the end of the first session everyone in the team has to move to a different playing postion This means that each player play Lead Second and Skip. This is a great way to meet the members of the club as you are picked to play with different mebers each week.This commences at 1.30p.m. and finishes with a cup of tea about 4.p.m.
The Men participate in the Northumberland County Clegg Cup and 9`s Leagues, County and National Competitions, as well as the North Northumberland League. Open Events at other clubs and National and County Competitions The Ladies participate in the County Womens League, County and National Competitions There is a full programme of Club Competitions for Men and Women.
Green space is usually available at various times throughtout the day for those wishing to practice or even try outdoor bowls. However priority is always given to those members who are playing National, County or Club Competitions.
For those of you wishing to try bowls or for those experienced bowlers who have moved into the area or who are likely to move into the area please ring the Hon Secretary who will be pleased to arrange for a member to meet you and show you around. A warm welcome is assured.
