As we provide a specialist domestic abuse service to women, most of whom have complex needs, our counsellors need to have some experience of working with abuse. All our volunteers have mandatory in-house training which is geared towards their level of involvement with clients.
We run courses for groups of women and counsellors in training might be interested in sitting in on these to gain experience. Alternatively, some trainee counsellors volunteer in a more practical way with us in order to gain some understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse.
